Impact of Covid-19 on the Housing Market

There’s no doubt that the Covid-19 pandemic has hit virtually every industry, the housing industry is no different.  Many construction sites shut down at the end of March 2020 following lockdown being imposed.  Castlemore were prepared and have worked safely during this pandemic, regularly testing all staff, visitors and contractors.

During the first quarter of 2020 house prices did not fall, but the number of sales did by comparison to 2019. After the lockdown was eased house prices increased by an average of £6,000 across England. Estate Agents reported a surge in sales, some turning over 12 months of business in just 3 months, proving the demand is still there but so is the virus which has affected delivery rates for new housing.

There have already been several waves of planning policy change and concurrent consultations were launched in August 2020 all aimed at fulfilling the White Paper, Planning for the Future.
